North Central Texas is one of the best places to live in Texas right now.

Why? Quality of life, affordability, the opportunity for growth, and the local economy have landed many cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on Better Homes and Gardens list of the top 25 places to live in the Lonestar State.

According to The Dallas Morning News, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex gains over 250 residents per day, which makes it one of the fastest-growing U.S. metropolitan areas. Fort Worth and Plano earned the top-ranking spots on Better Homes and Gardens’ list, and the two cities have vastly different atmospheres, benefits, and environments. One thing both cities have in common is their immense diversity. Fort Worth has a fairly even split between their white, Hispanic, and African American populations, while Plano offers a majority white population with Asian and Hispanic residents filling out the other majority. This diversity not only adds immense value to the community, but also increases the variety of local businesses, activities, and celebrations that residents can enjoy. When it comes to the cities’ differences, Plano tends to be a more moderate, family-oriented foil to Fort Worth’s liberal, largely young professional environment. Plano also has a more largely educated population, with 57% of the adult population holding a bachelor’s degree or higher. In comparison, only 30% of Fort Worth’s adult population holds a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Dallas comes in at #8 on the list and offers a generally liberal, diverse environment with the largest population in the DFW Metroplex. The vastness of the city allows a plethora of schooling options, communities, local offerings, and events, which lends itself to an incredibly diverse population. The Hispanic population holds the majority slot, while the white and African American populations share a common percentage. Dallas offers a true mix of urban and suburban areas, with a huge selection of outdoor activities and some of the highest-ranking schools in Texas.

Texas small towns have endless charm and history, and North Texas hideaways are no different. One of the best places to raise a family in North Texas is Murphy, a Dallas suburb with top-notch public schools, a largely rural environment, and a predominantly college-educated population. Stellar parks and recreation departments and a low crime rate are also particularly alluring features. For those seeking a small-town environment with a city’s amenities, McKinney is a swiftly growing suburb with a strong sense of community. Their historic downtown area offers a vast array of local businesses and activities, and the majority of residents are college-educated. McKinney, like Murphy, also has several well-maintained parks, trails, and public areas. If you want a taste of the Hill Country in North Texas, Cedar Hill offers a gorgeous, rolling landscape and mountain biking trails. It ticks all the boxes for a Texas small town: a charming historic region, ample outdoor activities, and friendly locals.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is home to more than 200 cities and suburbs, each with its own unique blend of residents, businesses, and activities. Start building your Texas legacy in North Texas today - find the latest ranch and residential listings in Dallas and Tarrant Counties.
