Underground water in Texas Hill Country

For a long while, Texas Hill Country real estate was known for its thriving acreages that were rich in water sources like creeks and springs. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better than this, these plots of land were extremely reasonable in price!

But now, land is more expensive than ever with some properties selling for as much as $75,000 per acre.

Gone are the days of finding Hill Country farmland for a budget of $15,000 per acre. Searching for this type of real estate is looking for a unicorn--you’re not likely to find it.

The Australia Bushfires, which have been raging since November with unprecedented destruction, have encompassed an area in Australia approximately equal to the size of South Korea. Not only is the destruction of wildlife, and property absolutely devastating from these fires, but the effects that the fires will have on the Agriculture business could be detrimental to that portion of Australia’s economy.

Each year there is a season of wildfires in Australia which usually extend through the Summer and Fall months. These fires beginning in November are highly unusual as well as the ferocity in which these fires have been spreading. At least two dozen people have been confirmed dead and more are missing as the fires continue raging. So far, roughly 25.5

The Incentive Program

NRCS in Texas is making funding available through the agency's Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQUIP) for qualified agricultural producers to assist in conservation practices that help to sustain the lands natural resources during drought or assist during recovery. 

Since the drought so severely affects the agricultural production of Texas, NRCS is trying to help sustain the industry that makes up 36% of the producers within the state. 

Not only does NRCS provide an extensive list of counties that it will aid during this drought, but specific crops that they are looking to aid. To apply for aid check out their program here.
