High Plains Ranch is located outside of the quaint town of Floydada, Texas in Floyd County. The name Floydada has an interesting past. Originally the town was named "Floyd City" after the county name, but after a post office was developed, the name was changed. Some believe it was changed due to a simple mistake, but others believe it was intentionally altered to be named after the mother of the founder, "Ada", giving us "Floydada". No matter where the name came from , this town is a tight knit agricultural based community with close ties and a loving group of families ready to invite more neighbors in.
The terrain of High Plains Ranch varies from nearly level to gently sloping, with a strong collection of Pullman and Lofton clay loam soils. These fertile soils allow for a strong stand of Bluestem grass to flourish. These incredible grasses, as well as a well already on the property support a large cattle herd. Additionally, 3 miles of new 5 strand barbwire fencing with steel corners has recently been built to protect your herd.
A fairly large playa lake area is located on the south central side of the property. Ducks, Geese, Sandhill Crane's, and Dove migrate through in large numbers as this property lies in the Plains Migratory route. This route is known well across the state, and the country, for being some of the best bird hunting around.
