Dimmit County is located in southern Texas, with its southwestern corner roughly 2.5 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

The county seat of Dimmit is Carrizo Springs, and other communities within the county are Asherton, Catarina, Carrizo Hill, Big Wells, Brundage, and Winter Haven.

Major access routes to and from Dimmit County are U.S. Highways 83 and 277, and State Highway 85.

Carrizo Springs is roughly 2 hours from San Antonio by car.

Dimmit County should not be confused with the town of the same name located in northern Texas.

Dimmit County Land Uses & Farming

Vegetable farming has historically been an important part of the local economy, but in recent years, gas and oil extraction and cattle farming have also become big sources of revenue in Dimmit County.
