Santa Anna Hunting Area (SAHA) is a long-standing, family-owned upland game bird hunting preserve located in Santa Anna, Texas—named after the nearby twin peaks that honor Comanche Chief Santa Anna. With stunning views of these iconic mountains, the property is known for its breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. SAHA raises Chukar, Bobwhite and Tennessee Red Quail, as well as Ringneck and Melanistic Pheasants, offering premier upland bird hunts.

Founded in 1986 by John R. Stearns to address the growing inaccessibility of hunting, SAHA grew from a one-man operation into a thriving business. In 1994, it officially became SAHA Inc. when John’s son, Gerry Stearns, took over. His wife Eldena—an experienced game bird producer and former co-owner of Honey Creek Game Birds—joined the operation in 1998, bringing additional expertise in dog training and guiding hunts.

By 2002, SAHA’s hatchery had evolved into a state-of-the-art NPIP-certified and A1 Clean facility, capable of hatching over 500,000 chicks annually and housing up to 14,000 mature birds. At its peak, the business facilitated more than 500 hunts and hosted over 1,800 hunters each season. Since Gerry’s passing in 2012, Eldena has scaled back the operation while preserving the tradition of family-run excellence. With 14 trained and in-training bird dogs—including German Shorthairs, Brittanys, French Brittanys, and pointing Poodles—SAHA is ready to be revived or repurposed into a thriving homestead or working farm.
